Dec. 4th, 2025 – from 9h to 13h CST
College of Physicians and Surgeons, San José, La Salle, Costa Rica
Pre-congress workshops represent a valuable opportunity to deepen key areas of clinical practice through the use of POCUS. These hands-on training sessions have been carefully designed to cover highly relevant topics such as advanced airway, advanced lung, hemodynamic monitoring, advanced abdomen, and pediatrics — all of which are essential in the care of critically ill and acute patients.
Title of the workshops:
Workshop 1/5 – Dec. 4th 2025
Course delivered in Spanish
The Advanced Airway Workshop offers hands-on training in airway management for critically ill patients.
Through interactive stations and high-fidelity simulation, participants will learn advanced intubation techniques, difficult airway prediction, and management strategies, including procedures such as cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy.
The workshop also incorporates the use of ultrasound (POCUS) for anatomical identification and real-time decision-making.
Guided by international experts, this workshop fosters active learning in a dynamic, collaborative environment based on real clinical scenarios. Ideal for emergency teams.

Workshop 2/5 – Dec. 4th 2025
Course delivered in Spanish
The Advanced Lung Ultrasound Workshop provides intensive training in the use of lung ultrasound (LUS) in critical care settings.
Through hands-on stations and clinical simulations, participants will explore pathologies such as pneumothorax, pleural effusion, pulmonary edema, consolidations, and the ultrasound profile of respiratory distress, among others.
The workshop focuses on systematic image interpretation, diagnostic integration, and decision-making based on ultrasound findings. Designed for professionals managing patients with acute respiratory failure, the session is led by international experts and conducted in a practical, participatory environment.

Workshop 3/5 – Dec. 4th 2025
Course delivered in Spanish
The Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring Workshop offers a hands-on experience focused on the assessment and management of circulatory status in critically ill patients.
Using point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), participants will learn to evaluate cardiac function, intravascular volume, fluid responsiveness, and signs of hemodynamic dysfunction.
Through interactive stations and simulated clinical cases, attendees will develop skills for real-time decision-making.
This workshop is designed for intensivists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, and other professionals involved in critical care, with a strong emphasis on clinical application, physiological reasoning, and image-guided protocols.

Workshop 4/5 – Dec. 4th 2025
Course delivered in Spanish
The Advanced Abdominal Ultrasound Workshop provides intensive, hands-on training in the use of abdominal ultrasound in critical care settings. Participants will learn to identify ascites, abdominal aortic aneurysm, bladder distention, signs of bowel obstruction, and other abdominal emergencies.
Training includes rapid assessment techniques, systematic scanning approaches, and clinical correlation in simulated scenarios. The workshop also covers the use of extended FAST and abdominal evaluation in trauma.
Designed for professionals who make rapid decisions in emergency settings, the session blends applied theory with practical stations led by expert instructors.

Workshop 5/5 – Dec. 4th 2025
Course delivered in Spanish
The Pediatric Ultrasound Workshop offers a theoretical and practical experience focused on the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in pediatric patients within emergency and critical care settings.
Training includes lung, cardiac, abdominal, and vascular assessment, as well as ultrasound-guided procedures. Through hands-on stations with clinical simulation, participants will develop key skills tailored to pediatric physiology.
The workshop emphasizes rapid and safe decision-making through the effective and rational use of ultrasound in clinical practice.
