Course Description

The Ultrasound Life Support Basic Level 1 (USLS BL 1 P)* course equips healthcare professionals with essential point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) skills tailored for emergency and critical care settings.

• • Core Ultrasound Techniques: Understand the fundamentals of ultrasound physics, proper ultrasound machine setting and use, and image acquisition.

• • Lung Ultrasound: Learn to identify the major causes of respiratory failure such as pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, pericardial effusion, and consolidations.

• • Focused Cardiac Ultrasound: Discover how to identify the major causes of shock and cardiac arrest, from severe right and left ventricular dysfunction to tamponade, severe hypovolemia, and valvular dysfunction.

• • Abdominal & FAST Protocol: Master the technique to detect free fluid associated with traumatic organ injuries and other conditions, and to gather clues toward an abdominal source of hemodynamic instability.

• • Deep Venous Ultrasound: Learn how to effectively screen for deep venous thrombosis in the critical patient.

• • Respiratory Failure, Shock & Cardiac Arrest Management: Learn the multi-organ clinical-sonographic integrated approach to the critical patient to guide your critical decisions.
