Steffen Schmidt

I am a pediatric emergency physician and neonatologist at the Children’s Hospital of the Inselspital Bern.

I have developed the point of care ultrasound program of our pediatric emergency department at the Children’s Hospital Bern and I am also committed to bedside ultrasound in the entire children’s hospital.

I am a certified ultrasound trainer of the Swiss Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (SGUM) and currently on the board of the Pediatric Section. Here I lead the pediatric point of care ultrasound in Switzerland.

I teach in national and international courses and have been course director several times.

I am currently the director of our International Bedside Ultrasound Workshop in Pediatric Emergency, Neonatal and Intensive Care Medicine in Bern.

My main interests are multidisciplinary bedside ultrasound in pediatrics. I am involved in the training of our pediatricians and would particularly like to further develop point of care ultrasound in pediatric emergency medicine.
