WINFOCUS ECHO Group
The WINFOCUS Section for Critical Echocardiography is developing a research and educational plan to identify, discuss and develop at regional and International level point-of-care echocardiography applications in primary, emergency, and critical intensive care.
A core group, focused on critical echocardiography applications in Intensive Care (ECHO-ICU Section) has published a strawman document embracing the educational minimal requirements for 'Level 1 Echo in ICU', has developed an outstanding echo course addressing 'Echocardiography for Intensivists' (last edition has been held in Milan at the SMART Congress 2010), and an exciting web platform with an e-learning structured as modular training and named WIN-ECHO in ICU.

1st International Consensus Conference on Focused Echocardiography (ICC eFOCUS)
Milan (Italy) ~ May 24-25, 2011
One of the last and most challanging task of the group is to organize the "First International Consensus Conference on Focused Echocardiography" (ICC eFOCUS), in the frame of the overall consensus and evidence-based process described in the recent editorial "Development of evidence-based clinical recommendations and consensus statements in critical ultrasound field: why and how?"]. Results will be integrated and harmonized with those ones coming by other International committees, for a comprehensive empowerment of technical, clinical, educational and organizational ultrasound standards in primary, emergency & critical care.
The ICC eFOCUS Preparatory Meeting was held in Rome on October 7 & 9, 2010, during the 2010 WINFOCUS world congress. Main ICC eFOCUS session will be held in Milan, next May 24-25, jointly with Winfocus Echo course June Editions and SMART Congress. Final statements to be released by the 2011 Winfocus World Congress in New Delhi, on late November 2011.
